The General Coordinator of Gorran (Change Movement) Nawshirwan Mustafa passed away early Friday morning at the age of 73 after taking medical care for nearly nine months in the UK.
According to a breaking news posted by Kurdistan24 news, Mustafa died in Sulaimani only a week after he returned from the UK.
Due to his condition, Mustafa could not even attend the burial ceremony of his wife in Sulaimaniy on March 17 this year.
Mustafa, a reformist leader at the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s (PUK), broke away from the PUK to found Gorran in 2009.
Mustafa's newly established party now has 24 seats in the Kurdistan Parliament, and comes second to the ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).
