Arbil meeting considers withdrawing trust vote, source says
Arbil- A source close to al-Iraqiya List leader Iyad Allawi said Iraqi leaders will discuss withdrawing trust vote from Prime Minister Nouri al- Maliki during Monday meeting in Arbil.

The leaders will discuss the last two meetings, will draw their conclusions about them and would negotiate drawing confidence from the premier, the source said.

Kurdistan Region’s President Massoud Barzani, Iraqiya List leader Iyad Allawi, Parliament speaker Osama al-Nujaifi, Deputy Prime Minister Salih al-Mutlaq and a number of other Kurdish and Iraqiya officials gathered in Salahaddin resort.

The source said Sadr Movement leader Muqtada al-Sadr asked Maliki to visit Najaf but his call was left unanswered by the premier and now Sadr is more determined to withdraw confidence from Maliki.

After Najaf meeting, attended by many Iraqi officials to discuss Iraq’s political crisis, Sadr asked Maliki to visit the city.

Despite last Arbil meeting, Iraqi president didn’t participate in today’s gathering but the source said leaders in today’s convention will meet Talabani in Sulaymaniyah.

Iraq has faced a political impasse after vice president Tariq al- Hashimi, who is now in Turkey, was accused of running death squads against officials and civilians and Maliki asked parliament to draw vote from his deputy Salih al-Mutlaq for calling the premier “a worse dictator than Saddam.”

The situation deteriorated after Kurdistan Region’s president in his new year’s speech accused Maliki of marginalizing minorities and consolidating power in Baghdad.

The calls to discredit Maliki took ground after Sadr leader joined Maliki’s oppositions and asked Maliki to step down and National Coalition to nominate another person to replace him.
