Erbil-Baghdad ties would leave big impact on oil market, analyst says

An economic analyst and the president of MUFJ World Bank Research believes ties between the Kurdistan Region and the Iraqi government would leave a dramatic impact on oil market.

Ehsan Khoman stated in an analysis that the most important issue in the oil market would be the ties that Erbil, the capital of the region, will have with Baghdad.

The analyst added that in wake of the votes the ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has gained in Iraq May 12 parliamentary elections, the Iraqi government would probably have no other way but to negotiate with the Kurds in the country over sharing incomes of natural resources, particularly over exporting Kirkuk oil.
