Adel Abdul Mahdi welcomes ministral nominations for forming government

Iraq’s prime minister-designate, Adel Abdul Mahdi, opened the door for the nomination of individuals for ministerial positions in the new cabinet of the country.

Abdul Mahdi said in a written statement on Monday, October 8, that “men and women who meet all the conditions stipulated in the constitution, can nominate themselves.”
According to NRT he said in the statement that he welcomes the requests that he expects to receive, while nominations are open from October 6 to October 11.
On Tuesday, October 2, 2018, President Barham Salih appointed Adel Abdul Mahdi to form the new government within 30 days.

Abdul Mahdi's name had been floated as a possibility in the weeks after Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani said he would not support anyone for prime minister who had previously held the post.
