New Generation president, HDP delegation meet on Tuesday

New Generation President Shaswar Abdulwahid and Movement lawmakers met a senior-level delegation from the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) on Tuesday, September 10.

During the meeting, Abdulwahid expressed solidarity with the HDP, saying that both were being oppressed by ruling parties.

The removal of three HDP mayors in major cities in Turkey’s southeast last month sparked major protests there, NRT reported.

"You are imprisoned by the Turkish government, we are imprisoned by the Kurdish government," Abdulwahid said during the meeting.

After the meeting, New Generation lawmaker in the Kurdistan Parliament Kazm Faruq said that the meeting was to discuss mutual interests and strengthen the bilateral relations between the two.

The HDP delegation, headed by party co-chair Sezai Temelli, arrived in the Region four days ago and have met with President of Iraq Barham Salih, President of Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government Masoud Barzani, and other prominent parties and figures.
