Syrian Kurdish official asks KDP and PKK to avoid from war

A member of the North and East Syrian Autonomous Administration in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region asked the ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) to refrain from war.

"We believe that the Kurdish parties should move towards unity and stay away from the conflict," Fathullah Husseini told KurdPress in an interview.
"We believe in cooperation and unity between the Kurdish parties and we want them to avoid from any conflict," he went on to say.
He continued: "The Kurds are in a critical situation and the parliamentary elections are imminent. The Kurds in the Kurdistan Region are at a crucial juncture, and we face serious threats from both the central government and Turkey in Syrian Kurdistan."
Mr. Husseini added: "The more differences between the Kurdish movements are resolved and the more Kurdish diplomacy is increased in the region, the more the Kurds will be able to serve the Kurdish people and the Kurdish issue."
"We oppose war and violence and we want both sides to stay out of the conflict," he concluded.
