Spokesman says Iraq will respond to Turkey violations

Spokesperson for Iraq’s Commander-in-Chief said on Tuesday, June 15, that diplomatic moves were underway by the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to respond to repeated Turkish attacks on Iraqi territory.

Major General Yehia Rasool told state-run Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the Iraqi constitution emphasizes the importance of territorial sovereignty for Iraq and all other countries.
“We reject Iraqi territory being used as a place to carry out any terrorist act against any neighboring country,” he said, adding that Turkey should allow Baghdad to deal with any groups operating on its own soil.
Rasool also praised the new joint coordination rooms involving the Iraqi Security Forces and the Peshmerga, saying he hoped they will achieve positive results in the future.
