Biden could provide more support to Syrian Kurds: weekly

The name of US President-elect Joe Biden is tied to supporting the Syrian Kurds during the presidency of Barack Obama and the fight against ISIS, so he is expected to provide more support to the Syrian Kurds.

"Joe Biden is keen to support Syrian Kurdish-Arab forces and has had good relations with Iraqi Kurdish leaders since 2003, so more support for Iraqi and Syrian Kurds is expected during his presidency," the English-language Ahram Weekly wrote of Joe Biden's policy toward the Kurds.

Noting that Joe Biden is a critic of Turkey and incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the paper stressed that the new US administration will provide more support to the Syrian Kurds.

"Under Joe Biden, the Syrian Kurds will be reassured that the United States, unlike the Donald Trump administration, will not leave them alone against possible attacks," the weekly added.
