Iraqi Kurds need unity more than ever, KDP official

The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) secretary of the political bureau referred to the situation in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of US forces in the country and stressed that the Kurds now need union, which they have always dreamed about, more than ever.

Fazil Mirani commented about recent events in Afghanistan and the withdrawal of US troops from the country and its occupation by the Taliban, as well as comparisons between the situation in Kurdistan and Afghanistan as well as a Sunday message from the KDP Leader Masoud Barzani and underlined, as did Barzani, that Afghanistan and Kurdistan Region are different and such a comparison should not be made between the region and Afghanistan.

The secretary of the political bureau of the KDP added that everyone knows that the threat against the Afghan government belonged to the Taliban, but by whom and what is the threat against the Kurdistan region? Who makes people in the Region anxious? It is necessary to know what other dangers, except the ISIS, are threatening the Kurds.

Mirani also underlined that there is no doubt that the Kurds now need the unity they have dreamed of in the past, and that it is necessary to work on diplomatic solutions as well as defense ways.

He reiterated on the need to improve the region's relations with its neighbors, and said that existing issues should be analyzed realistically.
