US withdrawal from Iraq won't affect Kurdistan Region: military advisor

The military adviser to the Kurdistan Region president stated that the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq will not affect the Kurdish region.

In an interview with BasNews, Maj. Gen. Babakir Zebari, Advisor to the President of the Kurdistan Region, said: "The Kurdistan Regional Government and the United States and the International Coalition have a very good coordination and the amount of cooperation with the Peshmerga forces is going to increase."

"The withdrawal of US troops from Iraq will not affect the Kurdistan Region, because there is a strong coordination between Peshmerga forces and the US forces in terms of security and military," he said.

General Zebari added: "Peshmerga training and military cooperation by the United States is a strategic issue, and there is good cooperation between us on the issue of ISIS."
