Iran envoy to Baghdad condoles death of Iraq Grand Ayatollah al-Hakeem

Iran’s Ambassador in Baghdad Iraj Masjedi in a message extended condolences to Iraqi nation over death of Grand Ayatollah Mohammed Saeed al-Hakeem, top Shia leader in southern holy city of Najaf.

Ayatollah al-Hakeem left a treasure of knowledge, Masjedi wrote.

The Grand Ayatollah, who passed away on Friday, September 3, due to hearth attack, left a rich heritage of science, knowledge, and thought, the ambassador said.

According to IRNA he went on to say that Ayatollah al-Hakeem served Islam and defended religious orders during all his life.

At the end of his message, the Iranian ambassador sympathized with the followers of the late Ayatollah and his family over the sad event.
