Turkish jets bomb village in Kurdistan

Turkish warplanes on Thursday bombed a village in the Kurdistan Region’s sub-district of Batifan, killing a number of livestock.

Esta Media Network reporter said Turkish fighter jets launched an airstrike against targets in Tanke village in Batifa, north of Duhok.

The airstrike killed a number of livestock and damages houses in the village, he added.

Casualties remained unclear.

In June, another Turkish air strike killed at least 35 sheep in Spindare village in Deraluk sub-district, northeast of Duhok.

Turkey has taken its decades-old conflict with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) deep into the Kurdistan Region, establishing military bases and deploying armed military drones against the fighters in their mountain strongholds.

Most of the operations have focused on territory up to 30 km from the border.
