Britain stresses on continued support for Kurdistan Region

The British Consul General emphasized, in a meeting with the Kurdistan Region president, London's continued support for the region.

The official website of the Kurdistan Regional Government reported the Kurdistan Region President, Nechirvan Barzani, met with the new British Consul General in Erbil, David Hunt, on Sunday September 12.

According to the report, during the meeting, the two sides emphasized the expansion and development of bilateral relations and increasing areas of cooperation, and Hunt announced his country's continued support for the Kurdistan region.

Hunt said he had a coherent plan to develop and strengthen London-Erbil relations, and praised the co-operation and co-ordination between his country's Ministry of Defense and the Kurdistan Region's Peshmerga Ministry.

Examining strategies and areas for expanding bilateral economic and trade cooperation, the general situation in Iraq and the region, the problems between Erbil and Baghdad, developments in the fight against terrorism, the threat of the ISIS return and the early parliamentary elections in Iraq are among the topics the two discussed in the meeting.
