KDP, Sadr movement discuss Iraqi government formation process

Delegations from the Sadrist Movement and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) met on Friday, November 5, to discuss the results of last month’s parliamentary election and the government formation process.

The Sadrist delegation was led by advisor Hassan al-Azari, while the KDP’s was headed by Hoshyar Zebari.

"Both sides agreed that the next Iraqi government should be independent and far from any external interference,” the Sadrists said in a statement.

The KDP delegation is in Baghdad to discuss the government formation process and will meet with other stakeholders as well.
