Fatah Alliance leader Hadi al-Amiri, Sadrist Movement leader Muqtada al-Sadr, State of Law Coalition leader Nouri al-Maliki and other political leaders participated in the meeting.
The meeting was held at the office of Amiri, according to a statement released by his office.
In the parliamentary elections held on October 10, Sadrist candidates won 73 seats, achieving a plurality in the new parliament and they now constitute the largest Shia grouping, NRT reported.
Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi’s Taqadum Alliance won the second most seats overall and the most in the Sunni bloc with 37.
Former prime minister Nouri al-Maliki’s State of Law won 33 seats, the pro-PMF Fatah Alliance 17, the Sunni bloc’s Azm Alliance 14, and the National State Forces Alliance six.
The Imtidad Movement, which was borne out of the October (Tishreen) protest movement won nine seats.
