TEV-DEM condemns Baghdad actions against Shingal

The co-chair of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) condemned Baghdad's efforts to send troops to the Kurdish Yazidi city of Shingal in northern Iraq.

"Shingal was liberated by the aids of HPG forces," said Gharib Haso, co-chair of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM), referring to a recent Shingal agreement between the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and Baghdad.

"The whole world saw how Shingal was liberated. The PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) made great sacrifices in fulfilling its human and moral responsibility to prevent the massacre of Yazidis. Shingal has been free for six years. In these six years, neither the KDP nor the central government of Iraq has taken any action against the people who were abducted, disappeared and killed by the ISIS. Why are 10,000 Iraqi forces gathered on Shingal border today? Their goal is to destroy the will of the Yazidis and re-dominate them," the Kurdish official added.

"The conspiracy against Shingal is very big. The arrival of the KDP and Iraqi forces in Shingal is not unlikely. Both sides can besiege Shingal. We condemn the actions of the Iraqi central government regarding Shingal. If the Iraqi government is really a federal government, it must recognize the independent management of Shingal. If the Iraqi government insists too much on this mistake, a lot of blood will be shed, and only the Turkish government will be empowered in this blood shedding."
