Iraqi army and local police are only armed forces in Shingal: spokesman

A spokesman for the Iraqi Armed Forces Joint Operations Command stressed the need to establish security in Shingal region and stated that there are no armed forces other than the local army and police forces in the area to control the situation there.

According to Nas News, Major General Tahseen Al-Khafaji said in a press conference that the meeting between General Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, Deputy Commander of the Joint Operations, and General Abdul Amir Yarallah, Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army in Shingal region, was important and they gave instructions on security, adding that "There are no armed forces in Shingal except the army and local police."

Al-Khafaji noted that some people tried to block the main roads, but they were repulsed by the army, adding that residents of the Shingal area played an important role in cooperating with Iraqi security forces to establish security there.
