Five killed in Turkish air strike on village in Chamchamal

Five people were killed in a Turkish air strike on Saturday, May 21, in a village in Aghjalar sub-district, west of Sulaimani.

Two Turkish drones targeted the village of Totaqali in Chamchamal’s Aghjalar sub-district on Saturday morning, the sub-district’s mayor, Hemin Bahjat, told NRT.
Bahjat said three of the victims were members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and two were civilians.
The mayor said the bombardment targeted a Toyota Hilux truck. Two of the bodies were found burnt in the vehicle and the other three have been transferred to the forensics department.
A source from the village indicated Mamand was an Anfal survivor who lost his parents and four siblings during the Anfal campaign.
Bahjat said the bombardment has stopped but the two drones are still roaming in the area.
