KRG says Baghdad has sent only 400 billion IQD of expected budget

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) said on Thursday, June 30, only 400 billion Iraqi dinars has been sent to Erbil from a total of 1 trillion, 200 billion the KRG says should have been transferred.

The KRG Council for Oil and Gas Affairs said in a statement the KRG has been providing the monthly salaries for the first six months of 2022 from the Region’s oil income.
The statement saidthe federal government has not sent the Region’s share in income and has only sent 400 billion Iraqi dinars.
The council also said the KRG has been able to distribute monthly payments to its workers every month.
The governorates of Sulaimani and Halabja have faced delays in paying public sector salarieS, while professors and staff from universities in Sulaimani, Halabja and Chamchamal protested for two weeks in May.
