Iran and Iraq foreign ministers hold phone call

The Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein held a phone call on Friday, July 1.

Appreciating the Iraqi authorities for their efforts in facilitating the affairs of Iranian pilgrims, the Iranian FM demanded the Iraqi government to follow up on the remaining issues of Hajj affairs.
According to Iran Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the phone call between Amir-Abdollahian and Hossein, the expansion of bilateral relations and the latest developments in the region were discussed.
While announcing the readiness to follow up the remaining issues related to this year's Hajj affairs, the Iraqi Foreign Minister emphasized the readiness of the Iraqi government to provide the necessary grounds for the start of political negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia in Baghdad and expressed hope that these negotiations will lead to positive developments in order to resume ties between two important countries in the region.
