FM says Iran is seeking peace and security in the region

The Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that a reason behind his trip to Syria is to establish peace and security in the region between Syria and Turkey, as two countries with which the Islamic Republic of Iran has important ties.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian stated in an interview before leaving for Damascus that following his trip to Turkey 4 days ago, it was necessary to have consultations with the Syrian authorities.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs added: "Changes are taking place in the region, and we must try to ensure that the Islamic Republic of Iran always plays a constructive role in the region and prevents a new crisis in the region."
Amir-Abdollahian noted: "the reason behind my trip to Syria is done with the aim of establishing peace and security in the region between Syria and Turkey, as two countries with which the Islamic Republic of Iran has important relations."
He added: "Another part of my trip is to pursue bilateral relations and consult with (Syrian President) Bashar Assad and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and high-ranking officials of Syria regarding various issues that exist at the regional and international level."
