Sadr says Maliki should surrender to court

The leader of the Sadrist Movement, Muqtada al-Sadr said on Monday, July 18, the head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki should give up politics and surrender to the court.

The prominent Shia cleric, Sadr, said a voice recording of Maliki has been leaked that accused Sadr of killing Iraqi people and being affiliated with Israel.
Sadr also said Maliki in the alleged recording made highly inflammatory statements in which he called the security forces and the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) cowards and threw them into division.
Maliki has denied the authenticity of the recording.
Sadr called on Maliki’s followers, political blocs and tribes to condemn his behavior and deprive him of their support.
Nouri al-Maliki’s State of Law Coalition is the rival of Muqtada al-Sadr’s Sadrist Movement in Iraq’s political process.
