Arresting NGM representatives and journalists destroyed what was left of democracy in Kurdistan Region: politician

A Change Movement representative in the former Iraqi Parliament and a Kurdish politician condemned the arrest of representatives of the New Generation Movement and journalists in the cities of Erbil and Sulaimani by the Kurdistan Region authorities.

According to Erth News Agency, Hoshiyar Abdullah wrote in a post on his Twitter account, where pictures of the detainees had been attached: " I strongly condemn the arrest of the representatives of the New Generation Movement and the journalists of the NRT organization by the forces affiliated with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK)."

He added in his tweet: "This action destroyed what was left of the alleged democracy in the Kurdistan region, and it speaks of the two parties' fear of popular protests due to their weakness in controlling the will of the people."
