SDF is in contact with coalition over looming threat of Turkish offensive: commander

The Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, said on Tuesday, August 16, the SDF is in constant contact with the US and the international coalition over Turkey’s threats to attack Syrian Kurdistan or Rojava.

Abdi said Turkey’s main goal in its attack is hostility against Kurds in Syria and that there is a consensus in rejecting the possibility of Turkish military operations in northern Syria.
Abdi also said the Syrian government and Russia are against Turkey’s attack on Rojava.
He has warned the SDF will stand against any new attack in northern Syria against Kurdish forces.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during a parliamentary group meeting of his Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Ankara on April 21 that the Turkish military would broaden its operations against the SDF in connection with its Operation Claw Lock that it began against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the Kurdistan Region.
