Iraqi FM meets with commander of NATO mission in Iraq for security talks

Iraq's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, met with the Commander of the NATO Mission in Iraq, Lieutenant General Giovanni M. Iannucci, in Baghdad on Wednesday, September 14, for talks on Iraq’s security and stability.

A statement from the Foreign Ministry said that during the meeting, issues of training Iraqi security forces and military advice were discussed.
Facilities for expanding training duties for Iraqi police forces by NATO were also discussed, according to the statement.
Iannucci said he was pleased to carry out new duties in Iraq, saying the Republic of Iraq had continued its military support to NATO and had never been hesitant in protecting international security.
He also said NATO is looking forward to strengthening its relations with the Iraqi government, the statement said.
