Turkey targets Ain Issa, Tel Abyad with dozens of shells: SDF

The Media Office of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Sunday that Turkish forces and their armed opposition factions, known as Syrian National Army (SNA), shelled villages in the western countryside of the city of Tel Abyad and the eastern countryside of Ain Issa town, north of Raqqa, with dozens of mortar and artillery shells.

The shells were launched from the Turkish military base located in the al-Sharakraq village on the M4 Highway, targeting the villages of al-Fatsa, Sayda, Mu’allaq, al-Hawijah, and al-Musheirfa, the SDF said.

A footage released by the SDF showed heavy Turkish shelling on Ain Issa villages, North Press Agency reported.

One shell landed on the village of Qarfaly al-Kabira, and in the village of Khirbat Bakar, a civil house was targeted by a UAV strike. The villages of Kor Hassan and al-Sleiby were targeted with more than ten shells, according to the statement.

The statement pointed out that a Turkish drone targeted a house in the village of Khirbat Bakar in the western countryside of Tel Abyad without giving many details on any human losses or material damages.

Since the early hours of the day, the Turkish forces have intensified their aerial and artillery shelling on northeast Syria using heavy weapons against villages on the frontlines.
