Iraqi court summons oil minister over corruption charges

Iraq's Commission of Integrity has said that al-Karkh court of investigation has summoned Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar and three other officials over charges of corruption.

A statement by the commission, published on September 22, said that the three other officials are one of Abdul-Jabar’s assistants and two directors-general of the Oil Ministry.
It said that the oil minister will be tried on charges of using his post for his own benefit and seizing a piece of land.
The case is being investigated under Article 316 of Iraqi Penal Code, the statement said.
