Hikma movement calls for support for next Iraqi proposed government

Head of Iraqi National Wisdom (Hikma) Movement Ammar al-Hakim on Tuesday called political blocs to support the new proposed government.

Even though the movement had earlier announced that they will not partake in the next government. But Shia cleric Ammar al-Hakim called political blocs to support Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani and the ministerial team that he proposed to form the new government.

“Hakim called political blocs to stand with Sudani in the formation of a national service government,” the state news agency said.

Moreover, he called “everyone” to unite and compromise for the sake of Iraq and the Iraqis, according to the INA.

“We also hope that the next government will make every effort to protect Iraq and serve its people, and spare no effort in the task of restoring citizens’ confidence in the political process in the next stage,” the cleric said.

“The Iraqi people are only satisfied with a government of national service that achieves their legitimate aspirations,” he added.
