Bafel Talabani lashes out at Kurdistan Regional Government

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is dealing inappropriately with the citizens at the border areas of Sulaimani, Halabja and Garmian provinces, Bafel Talabani stated in a meeting with the US ambassador to Iraq.

Bafel Talabani, the head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), announced in a meeting with Elina Romanoski, the American ambassador to Iraq: "Providing services and implementing the law are among the most important tasks of the government, and solving the problems of the region and Baghdad is also in this framework."

According to the spokesperson of the office of the PUK president, the issues of examining and measuring the governance and problems between the political factions in the Kurdistan region were the other issues that the two sides discussed. Bafel Talabani clarified the position of the PUK regarding the inappropriate situation of the citizens of the border areas of Sulaimani, Halabja and Garmian provinces and stated: Unfortunately, the regional government has an incorrect and irresponsible attitude towards the citizens of these areas, so that the level of service is so low that the citizens of these areas feel they have committed a crime and that they should be tried.

He also pointed out that the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) considers itself obligated in this regard and will not accept from any political party the way its citizens are treated as second-class citizens and that political interactions are used as a pressure against them.

He also said: We have requested that any legal system or global system for making wealth should be implemented in a fair way, so that all citizens benefit from it.
