US-led coalition hails SDF efforts to deter ISIS

The US-led Global Coalition to defeat the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) praised on Saturday efforts made by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to deterring ISIS following the “success” of Al-Jazeera Thunderbolt” Operation in northeast Syria.

Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF–OIR) said on its tweeter account the success of the Al-Jazeera “Thunderbolt Operation” is “another example of the SDF commitment to deterring the ISIS threat & countering their desperate attempts to execute attacks & threaten NE Syria.”

In December 2022, the SDF launched the operation in the countryside of both Hasakah and Qamishli to pursue ISIS sleeper cells.

The CJTF-OIR stressed its commitment to defeating ISIS and “promoting regional stability.”

On Friday, the SDF announced in a statement end of the “Al-Jazeera Thunderbolt” Operation to pursue ISIS sleeper cells in northeast Syria and entered the stage of “focused operations.”

The statement added that about 154 militants were arrested by the SDF during combings and raids of the terrorist hideouts.
