PUK MP denies possibile Kurdish split over Iraqi budget approval

A member of the Kurdistan Patriotic Union (PUK) faction in the Iraqi parliament denied the predictions and possibilities that the two main ruling parties in the Kurdistan Region disagreed over the Iraqi 2021budget.

Hassan Ali made the remarks after the two parties of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the PUK made separate visits to Baghdad in the past weeks.
According to Baghdad Al-Youm, Ali said: "The visit of Kurdish party delegations to Baghdad is completely natural and every party has the right to send its delegation to Baghdad whenever it sees fit in order to meet and negotiate with any official or person. There is agreement on public issues in this regard."
Ali added: "The KDP and the PUK agree on the need for the Kurds to take a unified position on the 2021 budget, and unilateral meetings by the parties do not indicate any differences between them."
It is worth mentioning that a delegation of the Kurdistan Democratic Party headed by Roj Nouri Shawais and a PUK delegation led by Lahore Sheikh Jangi recently traveled to Baghdad to hold talks with Iraqi government officials.
