Arab League Secretary General meets  Massoud Barzani in Erbil

The leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Masoud Barzani, and the Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmad Aboul Gheit, meet in Erbil on Sunday, April 11.

During the meeting between the two leaders the situation in Iraq and the need to implement the principle of partnership of all sections of the country in its administration were discussed, Rudaw reported.
Explaining the purpose of his visit to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and meeting with senior Iraqi leaders, Aboul Gheit expressed hope that Iraq would be able to move towards stability and security without foreign interference.
He also stressed the need to strengthen relations between Iraq and Arab countries.
The two sides also traded their views on threats against the Iraqi political process and peaceful coexistence in the country, and called for the implementation of the principle of partnership of all sections of the country in its administration.
Countering the threat of terrorism and extremism in Iraq and other countries in the region were also discussed at the meeting. Aboul Gheit also met on the same day in Erbil with Prime Minister Masrour Barzani
It is worth noting that the Arab Leag leader met Kurdistan Regional Government President Nachirvan Barzani last week in Baghdad.
