PYD does not adhere to peace deal results: official tells KurdPress

The head of the Public Relations Office of the Syrian Kurdistan Future movement lamented the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) for not staying with the peace talk deal with the Syrian Kurdistan National Council (ENKS).

"It is necessary for the PYD to clarify its positions on the agreement, whether it believes in dialogue and reaching an agreement or not adhering to the results as before," Fadi Marei told KurdPress in an interview.

Referring to the second phase of the talks between the Kurdish movements in Syria, Mr. Marei said: "The situation is prepared for further talks between the Kurdistan National Council (ENKS) and the Kurdish Patriotic Union Parties (PNKS) after the recent visit of the US representative to the talks to Qamishlo. The two sides can hold talks now after negotiations were suspended due to statements by PYD officials about Roj Peshmerga forces and the ENKS.

He continued: "The PYD actions and the arrest of some members of the ENKS and the burning of the ENKS offices were discussed in a meeting with the US representative."

"The ENKS delegation stressed in the meeting on the seriousness of the council for dialogue and reaching an agreement with the other side based on the 2014 Duhok Agreement, and underscored that the issue is of serious important for the Kurds in Syria," Mr Marei went on to say.

He further added: "It is necessary for the PYD to clarify its position on the agreement, whether it believes in dialogue and reaching an agreement or it is not going to adhere to the results as before."
