Nechirvan Barzani meets Gorran officials in Sulaimani

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani arrived in Sulaimani with his vice presidents Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa and Mustafa Said Qadir on Tuesday, May 4, and met with Change Movement (Gorran) Coordinator Omar Said Ali and other officials at the party’s headquarters.

Following the meeting, Barzani told reporters that political parties should coordinate during and after the upcoming Iraqi parliamentary elections scheduled for October 10, adding that the parties stand to gain by projecting unity, NRT reported.
They also discussed the process of writing a constitution for the Kurdistan Region.
Gorran spokesperson Dler Abdulxalq said following the meeting that his party supported writing a transparent constitution that engrains the rule of law.
He said that Gorran’s priorities to end public sector salary cuts and implement the 2020 reform law.
Barzani is expected to meet with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Socialist Democratic Party (KSDP) later on Tuesday.
On Monday, Barzani met with Leader of the Kurdistan Justice Group (KJG) Ali Bapir and Kurdistan Islamic Union (KIU) Secretary General Salahadin Bahadin in Erbil.
