Nechirvan Barzani meets PUK joint heads in Sulaimani

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani visited Sulaimani on Tuesday, May 4, and met the joint leaders of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).

During the meeting between the head of the Kurdistan Region and the joint leaders of the Patriotic Union and its leading officials, the issue of rewriting the regional constitution and the upcoming Iraqi elections were discussed. According to the official website of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Nechirvan Barzani, the head of the Kurdistan Region, who traveled to Sulaimani with his deputies, met with Lahore Sheikh Jangi and Bafel Talabani, co-chairs of the PUK, and a number of party leaders on Tuesday.
The joint heads of the PUK also expressed their support for the actions of the Regional Directorate for resolving disputes between political parties and building alliances between them and stressed that the PUK cooperate and contribute to the success of these efforts and establish a mechanism and framework for cooperation and coordination between political parties.
The meeting also discussed the rewriting and drafting of the region's constitution, relations between Erbil and Baghdad, and talks between the two sides to resolve their differences and hold early Iraqi parliamentary elections. Barzani also met with leaders of the Movement for Change in Sulaimani.
