Americans want peace in Syrian Kurdistan, official tells KurdPress

The head of the Euphrates Strategic Research Center said that the Americans seriously want the region to play a strong opposition role in Syria while they are staying in Syrian Kurdistan.

Referring to the visit of a US political and military delegation to Syrian Kurdistan, Dr. Suleiman Elias, the Director of the Euphrates Strategic Research Center, told KurdPress in an interview that US representatives are more active in Syria and the Middle East after President Joe Biden took power and now they want peace and stability in Syria Kurdistan.
He continued: "The Americans want the self-governing administration to be like an umbrella for all the tribes in northern and eastern Syria, and the Kurdish parties to be able to play the role of a strong opposition in Syria and be able to stand on their own and the region remain economically independent."
The Kurdish official further added: "The Americans seriously want peace in Syrian Kurdistan, and as some of US institutions have asked the White House to recognize the self-ruling administration, the International Coalition has recognized all Syrian democratic forces as a powerful force in the fight against terrorism."
Dr. Suleiman added: "The visit of the US Deputy Secretary of State and the head of US political security in the Middle East to Syrian Kurdistan was very important politically, and various issues were discussed during the visit; including economic issues, the alliance of Kurdish parties and the future of the region."
