Iraqi PM says Kurdish independence referendum

<p style="text-align:left">Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi described the Kurdistan region&amp;rsquo;s planned referendum on independence as &amp;ldquo;unconstitutional&amp;rdquo; on Tuesday, hours after parliament voted against the regional plebiscite.

&ldquo;I call upon the Kurdish leadership to come to Baghdad and conclude a dialogue,&rdquo; Abadi said at a news conference.

The premier also warned from losing recent gains made recently, stressing that all Kurds are nationals like all the Iraqi nationals.

Earlier, Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani discussed with Iraqi Vice President Iyad Allawi the prospected referendum on the Kurdish administration secession from the Baghdad leadership.

The talks dealt with future relationship between Baghdad and Irbil.

The Iraqi parliament at a session also earlier that day held a voting rejecting the referendum.

The Iraqi Kurds have rebuffed calls by the Iraqi Government, the United States and the Arab League to postpone the planned public voting in the Kurdish regions of Iraq.
