Kurdistan Region MPs ask government to shed light on 50-year oil contract with Turkey

32 members of the Kurdistan Region Parliament have called on officials of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to explain about the region's 50-year oil contract with Turkey.

According to the Sharp news website, 32 members of the Kurdistan Parliament signed a memorandum stating that they want a special session to be held in parliament to review the agreement taken place, given that Kurdistan Regional Government President Nechirvan Barzani recently stated that a 50-year agreement has been signed between the region and Turkey.

The deputies requested that the relevant officials in the Kurdistan Regional Government be summoned to the parliament to explain the agreement and its details, and to attend the meeting to be held on the matter.

Earlier, some Kurdish representatives in the Kurdistan Parliament and the Iraqi parliament announced that the Kurdistan Region oil had been pre-sold through this agreement and that it could not deliver its oil to the Iraqi central government in exchange for funding.
