Official says several arrested in alleged Mala Bakhtiar poisoning

Member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) General Leadership Council in Kirkuk Ghazi Karkuki claimed on Wednesday, November 3, that several people accused of poisoning PUK High Political Council Member Mala Bakhtiar have been arrested.

Karkuki said that the PUK has not publicly revealed their identities, NRT reported.
On Monday, Mala Bakhtiar alleged that he has been poisoned by "comrades,” but has released no proof to support his accusation.
In recent days, several other PUK figures have also made similar statements alleging that they have been poisoned as well without producing evidence.
The allegations are among the latest development in the power struggle between PUK Co-President Bafel Talabani and his co-president, Lahur Sheikh Jangi.
