Iraqi president vows to help implement deals with Iran on pilgrimage

Iraq’s President Barham Salih has pledged to make every effort to help implement agreements aimed at facilitating pilgrimage affairs between the two neighbors.

Salih made the promise at a meeting with head of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Sadeq Hosseini who visited Iraq on Monday at the head of a delegation. Iran’s ambassador to Iraq, Iraj Masjedi attended the meeting too.
Hosseini briefed Salih on talks between the Iranian delegation and Iraqi ministers of interior, culture and health.
He demanded the Iraqi president support those talks and help expand the two countries’ cooperation on pilgrimage affairs.
Salih referred to brotherly and friendly ties between Tehran and Baghdad and vowed to make every effort in this regard.
The Iraqi president stressed that the two neighbors should further expand their friendly relations. He said that Tehran-Baghdad ties can be the best example of relations between any two countries in the region.
