KRG can not implement federal court ruling on oil sector: PM Barzani
Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani said on Tuesday, May 25, that the Iraqi Supreme Court ruling against KRG's oil sales is unconstitutional and political, and the KRG will not implement it.

At the 2022 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Barzani said that the KRG had rejected the court's ruling because "we think this is a political ruling and not a constitutional ruling made by a so-called legal institution," according to Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) media outlets.
He also said that the KRG would go by Iraq's constitution but also demand the KRG's rights are respected according to the constitution.
In February, the Iraqi Federal Supreme Court issued a verdict against the KRG's law on oil contracts, which ruled the contracts were against the constitution.
The Judicial Council of the KRG said on May 17 that all of the KRG's oil contracts meet the guidelines of the Iraqi constitution enacted in 2005.
