KDP and PUK reached initial agreement over a number of issues: official

A senior member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) announced an initial agreement with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) on a number of common issues.

Ghias Sorchi told Mawazin News Agency that the head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Democratic Party have reached an agreement in principle regarding solving the remaining issues between the two sides.
Bafel Talabani, the head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, is currently in Baghdad to strengthen bilateral talks with other political parties.
Pointing out that the negotiations and agreements between the two ruling parties of the Kurdistan Region do not include the presidency issue, Sorchi emphasized that these two parties are now working to solve the biggest political problem in Iraq, i.e. resuming the activities of the House of Representatives.
He added: Despite protesting the results of the last parliamentary elections, the PUK has not demanded re-holding the elections and did not oppose another poll.
