Anti-ISIS coalition provides equipment to Peshmerga: ministry

The International Coalition against Islamic State (ISIS) provide a new aid convoy to the Peshmerga forces in the Kurdistan Region on January 7, Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs said.

According to NRT the ministry said in a statement on the day that a handover ceremony took place in the presence of Colonel Dave Williams, CJTF-OIR Deputy ADC-Support Erbil, and Brigadier General Sherzad Asaad, the head of the Peshmerga's committee for the delivery of new aid from the Coalition.

“The new batch of military aid includes a wide range of necessary military supplies, including military vehicles, as part of continued coordination and bilateral cooperation,” the ministry quoted Colonel Williams as saying, adding that military aid will continue to be delivered.

Asaad thanked the Coalition for its continued support of the Kurdistan Region's armed forces, saying that the aid is “necessary and very important.”

It is the third delivery of equipment.to the Peshmerga since mid-October.
