Turkey plans to conduct military operations in Iraq: alliance member

A member of Fath Alliance in the Iraqi parliament stressed that Turkey is planning attacks and military operations inside Iraq, and that the government in Baghdad should take action to inside and outside the country stop Turkey's actions and prevent its aggression.

"Turkey is planning to attack Sinjar, especially since it has failed in its military operations in northern Iraq under the pretext of fighting the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK)," Muhammad al-Shabaki was quoted as saying by Al-Ma'loumeh news agency.

Al-Shabaki added: "Turkey is planning to conduct ground operations in Iraq, and the people of Sinjar and the Iraqi government have the right to take action to counter Turkey's threats to conduct ground military operations."

The representative of Ninawa province in the Iraqi parliament stressed that the Iraqi government should take actions in this regard by taking security measures in Sinjar and deploying its forces in order to ensure the security of the region against Turkish movements.

"Also, in the international arena, Baghdad should try to condemn and force Turkey not to interfere or violate the sovereignty of Iraq or to carry out military operations in the north of the country," the parliament deputy added.
